New addition to the family

Yes you read it right, Soon there will be the pitter patter of a tiny shutter in our home, My wife has decided that she wants a Dslr and as Nikon have some sales going on we have ordered a D5000 with a 18-55VR with bag and DVD and a 70-300 VR2 for $1089 which is something of a bargain, Now i am sure that the 70-300 will be living in my kit bag as its Nikon's little jewel, Highly respected by those who own them as being a very sharp lens, Its nearly as good as the $2400 70-200F2.8 VR2 that i purchased around Xmas and i was in two minds whether to get the 70-300 as its normally around the $600 mark but now Nikon are offering deals where if you buy certain bodies or kits you get another $200 off of the 70-300 so its a steal, The D5000 has 12MP on a cropped sensor,is small and light weight and has 720P video so fits the bill for her needs, it should arrive wednesday/thursday and i will put it through its paces and report back,It will be interesting to see how it compares to its bigger brothers when used for wildlife photography, I purchased the kit from Hunts who are well respected on this side of the pond and makes a change from the BH and Adorama where i normally shop, I was going to be away this week up into the Smokey Mountains for some landscape photography but i have been asked to exhibit 3 of my images in the CNPA (Carolina Nature Photographers Association) exhibition and they need the images printed and framed this week so i delayed the trip to get this sorted, I will give details of the exhibition that will run for a month next time for those that are in the area
